Beaches and coves
The shoreline alternates between sandy beaches and small rocky headlands. This gives the coast an irregular, scalloped edge, the most distinctive line on the map.

Rio das Ostras lies on the northern coast of Rio de Janeiro state, between the resort region of Cabo Frio and the oil city of Macaé. The town stretches along the Atlantic in a long, thin band. A sequence of beaches, coves and rocky outcrops lines its seaward side, and the river that gives it its name enters the ocean near the old centre.
Growth accelerated as the offshore oil industry expanded in nearby Macaé, turning a quiet fishing and holiday village into one of the fastest-growing towns in the state. New neighbourhoods have spread inland in wide grids across the coastal lowland, with lagoons and areas of restinga vegetation between them. From above, the contrast between the older waterfront and these planned districts is clear.
The town is well known for its jazz and blues festival, held for many years with stages set beside the sea. A Rio das Ostras map poster captures the town's outline. It shows a coastline of alternating sand and rock, the small river cutting inland, and the grid of streets spreading out behind the shore.
The shoreline alternates between sandy beaches and small rocky headlands. This gives the coast an irregular, scalloped edge, the most distinctive line on the map.
The Rio das Ostras reaches the sea near the historic centre. This short, winding channel breaks the coastline and marks the town's oldest area.
Behind the coast, newer districts spread across the lowland in broad, regular grids, broken up by lagoons and patches of natural vegetation.

Koteā ko Rio das Ostras
Many families spend their summers in Rio das Ostras, and many others moved there for work on the coast. A map of it recalls beach days, festival nights or a first home. Add a date or dedication to the subtitle, and the coordinates line marks the exact spot.
Blueprint and Sand work well for a coastal town, while Classic, Noir and Paper give a more graphic look. The $9 HD download includes six sizes as 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF files. Printed posters come on matte paper.
