Te mapa
May Pen is the capital of Clarendon parish, on the broad plains of southern Jamaica. On the map, the Rio Minho is the clearest natural line. It crosses the town and separates districts on either bank, with bridges joining them. The streets form an uneven grid around a commercial centre, and residential areas spread out along the main roads.
The town grew as a crossroads and market centre for Clarendon's farming districts, which are known for sugar cane and other crops on the flat, fertile land. Its position on the main route between Kingston and the western parishes keeps it busy with through traffic, and the road network shows it plainly.
A May Pen map poster offers a clear, readable portrait of a Jamaican parish town. The river gives the composition a flowing line, and the grid of central streets and the roads leaving town add structure. In black and white, it is a modest, grounded print that reads as home for anyone from Clarendon.
The river cuts through the town and draws a curving line across the map. The bridges that cross it mark the points where the two sides of May Pen meet.
The commercial heart is a close grid of short streets. Main roads converge here from Kingston, Mandeville and the Clarendon countryside.
Around the town, flat land spreads toward the south coast. Long straight roads and field boundaries give the outskirts an open, spacious feel.
