Mingda is a town in Chongqing municipality, in the hilly country on the eastern edge of the Sichuan Basin. The region is made of rolling ridges and narrow valleys, much of it worked into fields and terraces. On the map, the town appears as a compact settlement whose streets follow the lie of the land rather than a regular grid.
Like many small towns in rural Chongqing, it functions as a local centre for the surrounding villages, with roads leading out along the valleys to neighbouring communities.
