Te mapa
Minokamo lies in southern Gifu, in the spot where the Hida River flows into the Kiso. On a map, the two rivers form the town's main lines. Broad, curving water bends past the built-up area, and the streets gather on the flatter land between the bends. Wooded hills rise beyond the neighbourhoods and give the edges of the town a softer, more irregular outline.
The town grew around Ōta-juku, a post station on the Nakasendo, the old inland highway between Edo and Kyoto. A short stretch of that route still passes through the centre, and its older, finer grain stands out against later streets and rail lines. Downstream, this part of the Kiso has long been called the Japan Rhine because of its rocky gorges.
The writer and translator Tsubouchi Shōyō was born here, and the town remembers him as a key figure in modern Japanese literature. A Minokamo map poster puts the confluence at the centre and shows the town the way it actually works, as a crossing point of water, road and rail set among low hills.
The Hida River joins the Kiso at the edge of town. The two wide channels meet in a shape that anchors the whole composition and draws the eye straight to it.
The historic post road runs through the old Ōta-juku area. It appears as a narrow, continuous line among smaller plots, a trace of centuries of travel.
Beyond the river flats the streets thin out into wooded slopes. This leaves quiet open space around the settled centre and gives the poster a balanced frame.

Koteā ko Minokamo
For anyone who has walked the Nakasendo or grew up beside the Kiso, this map brings back the river bends and the old post road. The organic lines also work well in a calm, minimalist interior.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with the name of the post town or the year of a visit. Then choose a style: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
