Muikamachi was a town in Niigata Prefecture and became part of Minamiuonuma city in 2004. It sits in the Uonuma area, a long valley in Japan's snow country where winters bring some of the heaviest snowfall of any inhabited region. The town grew along the valley floor, with mountains close on either side.
The Uono River runs down the valley, and the streets of Muikamachi follow it in a long, narrow shape. On the map, the flat land around the town is taken up by rice paddies. The Uonuma area is famous for its Koshihikari rice. The forested slopes rise sharply at the valley's edges, and Mount Hakkai, one of the region's sacred peaks, stands nearby.
A Muikamachi map poster shows how mountains shape a settlement. The drawing is a narrow band of streets and rail line, an open floor of fields, and steep ground closing in. The emptiness around the town is as much part of the picture as the streets themselves.

Uonuma is known across Japan for its Koshihikari rice. The flat paddies around the town appear as a calm, open field between the streets and the slopes.
Forested mountains rise steeply on both sides of the valley, with Mount Hakkai nearby. Their edges make the town's footprint look precise and contained.

Koteā ko Muikamachi
People who know Muikamachi remember its deep winters, its rice harvests and the mountains always in view. A map of the valley brings back that setting in a form that suits a quiet room.
Personalise the title and subtitle, for example with Muikamachi alongside Minamiuonuma, or add a date. The coordinates line can be adjusted too. Paper and Sand feel warm, while Noir and Blueprint suit winter.
