Te mapa
Murcia lies in Negros Occidental, a short distance inland from Bacolod, on ground that rises gradually from the coastal plain toward the volcanic mass of Mount Kanlaon. On a map the town centre is a compact grid around the plaza. The wider municipality spreads across sugarcane fields, with rivers running down from the mountain and roads climbing into the uplands.
The best-known place in Murcia is Mambukal, a mountain resort on the slopes of Kanlaon known for its hot sulphur springs, waterfalls and forest trails. It has been a retreat for people from Bacolod for generations. Lower down, sugarcane dominates the landscape, as it has dominated the economy and much of the history of Negros.
A Murcia map poster can be framed tightly around the town centre or drawn wider to include the road up to Mambukal and the edge of the forest. Either way, the geometric plaza streets and the curving rural roads balance each other, and the black lines stand out clearly against the empty space of the fields.
The poblacion is laid out in a regular grid of streets around the central plaza and church. The same Spanish-era pattern appears in many towns across the Visayas.
A winding road leaves the lowlands and climbs toward the Mambukal resort on the slopes of Mount Kanlaon. It is the most distinctive line in a wider view of the town.
Streams and rivers run down from the volcano through the municipality. They draw thin, meandering lines across the plain of sugarcane fields.

Koteā ko Murcia
Murcia is home to sugar-farming families and to people from across Negros who spent school trips and weekends at Mambukal. For those now living in Manila or abroad, a map of the town and its mountain road is a clear, affectionate reminder of where they started.
