Te mapa
Mykines is the westernmost island of the Faroes, about ten square kilometres of steep grass and cliff at the edge of the archipelago. Its single village, also called Mykines, sits above a small landing. The island is reached by boat or helicopter from Vágar when the weather allows. On a map it reads as a compact shape with steep edges on nearly every side.
To the west, a narrow sound separates the main island from Mykineshólmur, a smaller islet joined to it by a footbridge. A path runs from the village across the island and over the bridge to the lighthouse at the far western end. That thin line of path crosses water to reach the last point of land and gives the map its quiet focal point.
Mykines is best known for its seabirds. Puffin colonies nest on its grassy slopes through the summer, alongside gannets and other cliff-nesting birds. A Mykines map poster is a small, precise record of a place many travellers describe as the end of the Faroes, where the land runs out into the North Atlantic.

A walking path crosses the island from the village to the lighthouse on Mykineshólmur. It is a thin line running out toward the western end of the archipelago.
The only settlement clusters around a small landing. Its compact group of houses is the one dense spot on an otherwise open, steep island.

Koteā ko Mykines
For birdwatchers and walkers, Mykines is often the high point of a Faroes trip, and whether you reach it at all depends on the sea and the wind. A poster of the island keeps that crossing in memory. Its small, compact shape sits well above a desk or in a narrow space.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with the date you finally made the crossing. Choose one of five styles. Classic black & white and Blueprint keep the edges sharp, while Sand and Paper give the island a warmer, weathered feel.
