Te mapa
Vágar is the third-largest of the Faroe Islands, lying west of Streymoy across a narrow sound. From above it looks like a rugged, lobed shape, cut deep from the west by the fjord of Sørvágsfjørður and edged with high cliffs. Its villages sit at the heads of bays, linked by a road that crosses the island from east to west.
The most distinctive feature on the map is Sørvágsvatn, also called Leitisvatn, the largest lake in the Faroes. It stretches south toward the coast and ends at a sheer cliff, where the Bøsdalafossur waterfall drops straight into the sea. Nearby, the only airport in the Faroes occupies a rare stretch of flat ground close to Sørvágur.
Further west, the village of Gásadalur sits above the Múlafossur waterfall and has been reachable by road only since a tunnel opened in 2004. A subsea tunnel links Vágar to Streymoy, and most arrivals pass through it on the way to Tórshavn. A Vágar map poster captures the lake, the fjord and the cliffs in one clear composition.

A long fjord cutting in from the west, with the village of Sørvágur at its head. It divides the western part of the island and gives the outline its deepest indentation.
A single straight strip near Sørvágur, the only airport in the archipelago. Its clean geometry stands out against the irregular lines of the surrounding valleys and coast.

Koteā ko Vágar
For many travellers, Vágar is the first and last view of the Faroes: the runway, the lake, the tunnel toward Tórshavn. The island's compact shape and distinctive lake make a poster that is recognisable at a glance.
Add the date of a trip or a hiking route to the subtitle, rename the title and adjust the coordinates. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. HD files are $9, and printed posters ship from partners in over 30 countries.
