Naduvattam is in central Kerala, in the low, green country near the boundary of Malappuram and Palakkad districts. Like many places in Kerala, it does not have a sharp edge between town and countryside. Houses sit along roads and lanes in a continuous, loose pattern, surrounded by coconut palms, gardens and paddy fields.
From above, this gives a map full of small, branching lines. Roads curve and fork to follow the gentle rise and fall of the land, and lanes lead off to homes set in their own plots. The Bharathapuzha, Kerala's long river, flows not far to the south, and small streams and ponds appear across the area.
