Navalgund is a taluk headquarters in Dharwad district, in the northern part of Karnataka. It sits on a broad plain of black cotton soil, and from above the landscape is strikingly flat and open. The town is compact, with an older core of close lanes and newer blocks extending along the roads that lead toward Dharwad and Hubballi.
