New City Map Poster & Print
New City is a hamlet in the town of Clarkstown and the county seat of Rockland County, New York, west of the Hudson River. Its map is a study in postwar suburban form: winding residential roads, loops and dead-end courts branching off a small number of older through routes that once linked farms and villages.
To the east, Lake DeForest, a reservoir on the Hackensack River, stretches north to south as a long, narrow body of water. It gives the map a strong vertical element and a clean edge against which the surrounding neighbourhoods are arranged, while wooded parcels and parkland fill many of the gaps between streets.
