Te mapa
Obock sits on the northern shore of the Gulf of Tadjoura, looking south across the water towards Djibouti City. The town is small and low, a spread of streets and compounds set on flat, arid ground between the coastline and the desert interior. From above, the most striking line is the shore itself, a long edge where sand, reef and sea meet.
Obock has a place in regional history as the first French foothold in the area. France acquired the anchorage in 1862, and the settlement served as the administrative centre of the colony until the capital moved to Djibouti City in the 1890s. The town remains modest in size, with a port and a street pattern shaped by the coast.
Beyond the edge of town, the map opens into bare terrain crossed by a few roads and dry watercourses running towards the sea. An Obock map poster is spare by nature: few streets, much empty ground, and a coastline that gives the composition its structure. In black and white that emptiness becomes part of the design rather than a gap in it.
The shore forms the town's southern edge, a long clean line that separates the built area from open water and anchors the whole composition.
Streets in the centre are short and closely spaced, a small network that thins quickly into scattered buildings and tracks at the edges of town.
Seasonal wadis cross the surrounding plain on their way to the sea. Even when dry, their branching courses add fine texture to the empty ground around Obock.

Koteā ko Obock
Obock suits people with a connection to Djibouti, to the sea routes of the Red Sea approaches or to the history of the Horn of Africa. The map is minimal, and that restraint gives it a strong presence on a wall.
Add your own title, a subtitle and a meaningful date, and keep or edit the coordinates line. Among the five styles, Sand echoes the desert setting, while Classic black & white keeps the coastline crisp. Files come in six print sizes.
