Te mapa
Ōi is a former town in southern Saitama that merged with neighbouring Kamifukuoka in 2005 to form the city of Fujimino. It lies on the flat Musashino plateau, roughly thirty kilometres north-west of central Tokyo. On a map, the land is level and densely settled, with no major hills or coastline. The streets make a fine, irregular mesh that shows how farmland was gradually built over.
The shape of the area comes from its roads and railways. Long routes cut across the plateau toward Kawagoe and Tokyo, and smaller lanes branch off at odd angles, often following old field boundaries rather than a planned grid. Pockets of greenery, woodland and farm plots remain between the houses and show up as quieter patches in the drawing.
This is commuter country: homes, schools and small shopping streets, with residents travelling toward the capital each day. An Ōi map poster captures that everyday texture. It is a dense, even pattern of small streets broken up by a few longer lines, which makes a subtle, detailed picture of suburban Japan.
The whole area sits on flat, raised ground north-west of Tokyo. With no relief to follow, the streets spread evenly in every direction and form a consistent, finely detailed texture.
Many small streets follow old field lines instead of a grid. They bend and meet at unexpected angles, which gives the map a hand-drawn quality.
Patches of woodland and farmland survive among the houses. On the poster they appear as lighter openings that break up the dense residential mesh.

Koteā ko Ōi
This map is for people who grew up in Ōi or Fujimino, or who once lived along this part of the commuter belt. Its fine, even street pattern has a textile-like quality that works well in a study or hallway.
You can set the title, subtitle and coordinates line yourself, for instance keeping the name Ōi alongside a family date. Choose from five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, to suit the space.
