Te mapa
Ojiya sits in the Chūetsu region of Niigata Prefecture, where the Shinano, Japan's longest river, cuts a broad valley through wooded hills. From above, the town shows as a dense cluster of streets on the flat ground by the water, with roads that thin out quickly as the slopes rise toward scattered hamlets and terraced fields.
The town is often named as a birthplace of Nishikigoi, the ornamental coloured carp that were first bred in the mountain villages around it. Ojiya is also known for chijimi, a fine crisp ramie cloth traditionally bleached on the winter snow, and for the Katakai fireworks festival, famous for its very large shells.
A Ojiya map poster places the river at the centre of the composition. The long curve of the Shinano, the bridges that cross it and the small roads climbing into the hills make a drawing that feels both orderly and rural, with the town's compact core set against wide stretches of open valley and upland.
Japan's longest river sweeps through the valley beside the town, a broad band of water that anchors the whole map and is crossed by a handful of bridges.
Beyond the valley floor, narrow roads wind up into the hills, linking small settlements and terraced plots where koi breeding first took hold.
The main streets gather on flat land near the river, forming a tight, legible core that contrasts with the looser pattern of the surrounding countryside.

Koteā ko Ojiya
Ojiya suits people with a connection to Niigata, to koi keeping or to rural Japan more broadly. The river and hills give the poster a quiet, balanced shape that works well in a study or a calm living space.
You can add your own title, subtitle and a date to the coordinates line, and choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The digital files cost $9, and printed, framed versions are also available.
