Te mapa
Omitama is a city in Ibaraki Prefecture, on the plateau and lowlands near Lake Kasumigaura, Japan's second-largest lake. It was formed in 2006 by merging several towns and villages, and the map shows that origin. There is no single dense core. Instead, several small centres are linked by country roads across farmland, woodland and lake shore.
The city is home to Ibaraki Airport, which shares its runways with the Hyakuri Air Base of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. From above, the long runway is one of the most striking features. The rest of the area is largely agricultural, with fields, greenhouses and farm villages. In the south, bays and inlets of Lake Kasumigaura reach the city.
An Omitama map poster brings these parts together. The runway draws a single bold line, water edges curve along one side, and fine rural roads connect scattered settlements. It is a calm, open composition, very different from the dense grid of a larger Japanese city.
The long runway, shared with Hyakuri Air Base, cuts across the plateau as a straight, strong line that stands out clearly on the map.
The lake's bays and inlets border the city, adding broad curves of water that soften the southern edge of the poster.
Omitama's older town centres appear as separate clusters of streets, joined by country roads that run across fields and small woodlands.
