Te mapa
Onoda lies on the southern coast of Yamaguchi Prefecture, facing the Suō-nada part of the Seto Inland Sea. Since 2005 it has been part of the city of Sanyō-Onoda. Its coastline is largely engineered, with straight quays, reclaimed industrial land and harbour basins replacing the natural shore.
The town is closely associated with cement. Onoda Cement, one of Japan's first private cement companies, was founded here in the 1880s, and industry still shapes the waterfront. Behind the coastal zone, residential streets spread over lower ground and toward the hills inland.
An Onoda map poster shows the contrast between the hard, rectilinear edge of the industrial shore and the finer, irregular street pattern of the town behind it. Rail lines and roads run parallel to the coast, tying the parts together. In black and white, the geometry of the waterfront is especially clear.
Straight quays and squared-off reclaimed land form the seaward edge of the map. They give the poster a sharp, man-made border against the open water.
Large plant sites along the shore appear as broad blocks with few streets. They reflect the town's long connection with cement production.
Away from the coast, small streets fill the lower ground and climb gently toward the hills. They add a finer, more domestic texture to the composition.

Koteā ko Onoda
Onoda suits people who grew up in the industrial towns of the Seto Inland Sea coast, or who worked in them. It is also a thoughtful choice for anyone interested in how industry shaped modern Japan.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line are yours to set, in Latin script or with a Japanese name. Then choose one of five styles; Blueprint fits the engineered shoreline especially well.
