Te mapa
Pak Phanang sits where the Pak Phanang River widens into the Gulf of Thailand on the east coast of the southern peninsula. On a map, the river is the organising line. It loops through low, flat country and splits the town between its banks before it opens into a shallow bay, protected by a thin spit of land that reaches north like a hooked finger.
The streets gather close to the water. Short lanes run down to the riverbank, and the built-up area thins quickly into rice land, shrimp ponds and drainage channels that show up as fine parallel strokes. Further up the river, a large royally initiated floodgate controls salt water and fresh water. It is one of the better-known engineering projects in this part of Nakhon Si Thammarat province.
A Pak Phanang map poster keeps that relationship between river, bay and cape in view. The town is also known for the tall concrete buildings where swiftlets nest, a local trade that has shaped parts of its skyline. At map scale, though, the drawing belongs to the water: the estuary, the long sandbar and the ribbon of settlement between them.
The Pak Phanang River widens as it reaches the gulf, and its final bends pass right through town before the channel opens into the sheltered bay.
A long, narrow spit of sand runs north from the coast and closes off the bay. On a black-and-white print it reads as one fine curved line.
Around the town, aquaculture ponds and irrigation cuts make a tight geometric pattern that contrasts with the free curves of the river.

Koteā ko Pak Phanang
People hang this map to remember a coastal place where life still faces the water. It suits anyone with family in Nakhon Si Thammarat, or anyone who spent time along the gulf and wants something quieter than a photograph.
You can add your own title, a subtitle and a coordinates line, and choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint and Sand both work well for a map that is mostly water.
