Te mapa
Palani is shaped by a single hill. The Dhandayuthapani Swamy temple, dedicated to Murugan, stands on its summit, and it is one of the six sacred abodes of the deity in Tamil Nadu. On a map the hill forms a round, unbuilt island. The town fills in around it, with a path circling the base and streets leading in from every direction.
Pilgrims climb the hill by long flights of steps or ride a winch railway or rope car to the top. Nearby is a smaller hill associated with Idumban. To the south rise the Palani Hills, part of the Western Ghats, with the hill station of Kodaikanal above. The temple is also known for panchamirtham, a sweet offering given to devotees.
A Palani map poster puts the temple hill at the centre of the composition. Dense streets and bazaars surround it, reservoirs and fields spread across the plain, and the edges of the mountains show in the distance. It is an image that connects faith, pilgrimage and home.
The steep hill topped by the Murugan temple is the defining feature of Palani. On the map it appears as a clear, round shape with the town wrapped closely around it.
A route circles the base of the hill and is walked by pilgrims. It forms a ring road that neatly outlines the sacred centre of the town.
South of the town the plain rises into the Palani Hills. The map shows roads heading up toward the mountains and Kodaikanal.

Koteā ko Palani
For devotees who have made the climb, or families with roots in Palani, a map centred on the temple hill is a meaningful thing to have at home. It is a respectful, understated way to mark a place of pilgrimage.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with the date of a visit or a family name. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, then download the HD files or order a printed poster with an optional frame.
