Pāloncha lies in the Bhadradri Kothagudem district of Telangana, in the forested country near the Godavari River in the east of the state. The town is known as an industrial centre, particularly for the Kothagudem Thermal Power Station, which is located here and has shaped the town's growth and employment for decades.
From above, the map shows a town with several distinct parts. The older market streets form a dense centre, while planned residential colonies for plant workers appear as regular grids nearby.
