Pastavy is in the Vitebsk region of northwestern Belarus, in a lake-filled landscape near the Lithuanian border. The town sits on the Myadzelka River. Pastavy's best-known landmark is the former Tyzenhaus palace and its park. It dates from the eighteenth century, when the Tyzenhaus family developed the town.
