Te mapa
Pattamadai is a town in Tirunelveli district, in the far south of Tamil Nadu. The surrounding plains are irrigated by the Tamirabarani river system, and from above the town is a compact cluster of streets. Around it are the small, irregular field shapes of wet cultivation, crossed by channels and the roads to nearby villages.
The town has a long reputation for its mats. Pattamadai mats are woven from fine korai grass, some so finely that they can be folded like cloth, and they are prized well beyond the region. Pattamadai is also known as the birthplace of Swami Sivananda Saraswati, the spiritual teacher who founded the Divine Life Society.
A Pattamadai map poster shows the close pattern of a South Indian agricultural town. Tight lanes cluster around the centre, and water and fields press in from every side. It is a modest drawing, and a fitting one for a place known for patient, precise handwork.
The centre is a dense cluster of short streets and lanes that reads as a small, solid mass. Around it, the landscape is far more open.
Around the town, small field plots and water channels form a fine mesh that recalls the texture of the woven mats the town is known for.
Local roads run out to neighbouring villages across the plains of Tirunelveli district, tying the town into its agricultural surroundings.

Koteā ko Pattamadai
For families with roots in Pattamadai, or for followers of Swami Sivananda, the town has personal meaning that a simple, clean map can express quietly. It suits a study, a meditation room or a home far from Tamil Nadu.
You can add your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, such as a family name or a year. The five styles are Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Paper and Sand bring a warmth that suits the town's handcraft tradition.
