Te mapa
Petit-Bourg is a commune on the eastern side of Basse-Terre, the mountainous western wing of Guadeloupe. It faces the sheltered waters of the Petit Cul-de-Sac Marin, and its land reaches from the coast inland toward the volcanic highlands. That gives it a long, layered shape on the map, with shoreline and mangrove along one edge and forest and steep ground along the other.
The town centre sits close to the sea, with a compact grid of streets near the shore and the main coastal road running through. Inland, rivers descend from the mountains in narrow valleys, and the Lézarde is among the best known of them. Settlements are strung out along the roads rather than concentrated, so the built area reads as a series of scattered clusters.
Much of the upland belongs to Guadeloupe National Park, and the map empties out toward the mountains, leaving only watercourses and a few forest tracks. A Petit-Bourg map poster captures the transition from coast to rainforest in a single frame, with the town on the water and the volcanic spine of the island rising behind it.

Rivers such as the Lézarde descend from the uplands toward the sea, carving narrow valleys through the commune. Their branching paths create fine lines across the inland map.
Toward the west, the land climbs into the protected forest of the national park. The map becomes sparse there, which gives the composition air and a strong sense of scale.

Koteā ko Petit-Bourg
Petit-Bourg is home for many Guadeloupeans and a memory for visitors who hiked its rivers or drove the coast road. A map of the commune brings the island's shape indoors. It works well for someone who has moved to mainland France and wants a piece of Basse-Terre on the wall.
