Te mapa
Pivdennoukrainsk was founded in the mid-1970s as the town for workers at the South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant, and its map still reflects that origin. It sits beside the Southern Buh in Mykolaiv Oblast, where the river and the plant's water reservoir form large, open shapes at the edge of the town.
Because it was designed as a whole rather than grown over centuries, the town has a clear Soviet-era plan: microdistricts of apartment blocks set around courtyards, broad main avenues and plenty of open space between buildings. The street network is compact and legible, and the town stops sharply at the surrounding steppe.
A Pivdennoukrainsk map poster shows a rare kind of place: a young, purpose-built town whose layout is still easy to follow at a glance. Wide water and open land around it make the tidy blocks stand out clearly.
The river passes beside the town through a rocky valley, adding a strong natural line to the edge of the frame.
Groups of apartment blocks arranged around courtyards and connected by broad avenues create a regular, modular pattern typical of planned Soviet towns.
The plant's water reservoir and the industrial site nearby form large, simple shapes that balance the dense residential blocks.
