Te mapa
Plant City sits in eastern Hillsborough County, between Tampa and Lakeland, on the long corridor followed by Interstate 4. The town took its name from Henry B. Plant, whose railroad helped shape development across this part of Florida in the late nineteenth century, and the rail lines are still a clear presence on the map.
Downtown follows a compact grid near the tracks, with historic brick buildings and a small civic core. Around it, residential streets spread in looser patterns, interrupted by small lakes and ponds that leave rounded pale shapes among the blocks. Farther out, larger parcels of farmland and newer subdivisions mark the transition to open country.
A Plant City map poster also nods to the town's best-known identity. Plant City calls itself the Winter Strawberry Capital of the World, and its annual Florida Strawberry Festival draws large crowds each year, a reminder of the agricultural land that still surrounds the town's streets.
Railroad lines cut diagonally and straight through the centre, and the historic downtown grid is arranged close to them, recalling the town's origins as a rail stop.
Small lakes and ponds appear throughout the neighbourhoods and outskirts, creating soft, rounded shapes that break up the rectangular pattern of the streets.
Interstate 4 runs along the northern side of town, a bold line on the map that links Plant City to Tampa in one direction and Orlando in the other.

For anyone who grew up among the strawberry fields or went to school downtown, this map brings back a very particular Florida town. The rail lines and lakes give it more character than a simple grid.
