Te mapa
Point Pedro lies on the northern coast of the Jaffna Peninsula, near the northernmost point of Sri Lanka. It is a coastal town in the most literal sense: the shoreline runs along one side of the map, and the town's streets lead down to the sea, the harbour and the fishing beaches.
The land here is flat and low, typical of the peninsula, with a dense grid of lanes near the waterfront and a looser pattern further inland, where houses stand among palmyra palms and small fields. Roads run south and west to Jaffna and other towns on the peninsula. A lighthouse stands on the coast.
A Point Pedro map poster is defined by its edge. The coastline forms a strong, clear boundary, with the open sea taking up much of the frame, and the lanes of the town pressed up against it. It is a simple image with a strong sense of place, at the very end of the island.
The shore runs along the top of the map, marking the northern edge of the Jaffna Peninsula and giving the whole composition a strong horizontal line.
Fishing harbours and beaches line the waterfront, with lanes running down from the town to meet the sea at regular intervals.
Inland, the terrain is level and low, with roads, lanes and small plots spread evenly across it towards the rest of the peninsula.
