Te mapa
Portadown grew up at a crossing of the River Bann in County Armagh, and the river still divides the map. The town centre sits on its west bank, with the main streets leading away from the bridge. Residential estates spread out in rings around the centre, with surrounding farmland and orchard country beyond them.
Portadown's position made it a transport hub. The Newry Canal met the Bann near the town, linking Lough Neagh to the sea, and later the railway junction here earned the town the nickname Hub of the North. A Portadown map poster traces these routes as they converge on the town.
Today Portadown is part of the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon borough. Its map shows a clear historic core, the long line of the river running north toward Lough Neagh, and the canal path following the water south. Framed wider, the planned roads of nearby Craigavon also enter the picture.
The river runs through the town, crossed by bridges near the centre. It is the strongest natural line on the poster, flowing north toward Lough Neagh.
The old canal line leaves the Bann near Portadown and heads south. On the map its towpath is a long, straight thread through the fields.
Rail lines meet at the town, recalling its role as a transport crossroads. Their gentle curves cross the street pattern.

Koteā ko Portadown
Portadown is often left behind by people moving to Belfast, Britain or beyond, and a map of the river town makes a grounded, personal reminder of where they started. It is also a good gift for a wedding or anniversary.
