Te mapa
Portimão grew along the west bank of the Arade, where the river widens into an estuary before meeting the Atlantic. On the map the old centre forms a knot of short, irregular streets close to the water, while newer districts spread north and west in looser blocks. Bridges cross to the east bank, and the river itself becomes the strongest line on the sheet.
Toward the sea the town runs into Praia da Rocha, a long beach backed by ochre cliffs, with hotels and a seafront avenue following the clifftop. Breakwaters guard the mouth of the estuary, and the village of Ferragudo faces Portimão across the water. The port has long been tied to fishing, and grilled sardines on the quayside remain part of the town's identity.
A Portimão map poster captures the meeting of three shapes: the curve of the river, the fabric of the town and the scalloped edge of the coast. Each reads differently in black and white, from the smooth water surface to the fine grain of streets. Inland, the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve adds a looping track to the hills north of the town.
The river widens as it approaches the sea, crossed by road bridges and lined with quays, a marina and the fishing harbour on the Portimão side.
A broad sweep of sand below sandstone cliffs, with the seafront avenue on the clifftop and the Fortaleza de Santa Catarina at its eastern end near the river mouth.
Short, crooked streets and small squares around the main church sit close to the water, a denser pattern than the planned districts that grew up later.

Koteā ko Portimão
Portimão is where many people spend summers, set sail from, or return to year after year. A map of the estuary and beach holds those memories in a restrained way, with no postcard colours, only the lines of river, streets and shore.
Add a title, a subtitle such as the year of a trip, and the coordinates line, then pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download HD files for $9 in six print sizes, or order a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
