Punnayūr lies in Thrissur district, close to the Arabian Sea coast near Chavakkad. From above, it does not look like a town with a clear centre. Homes are spread among coconut groves, and narrow lanes wind between them. Ponds, small canals and low-lying wetland add water shapes throughout, and the settlement stretches toward the shoreline.
This dispersed pattern is typical of coastal Kerala, where houses sit on their own plots among trees rather than in dense blocks.
