Te mapa
Querecotillo lies in the valley of the Chira River in Peru's Piura Region, not far from the city of Sullana. The valley is a green corridor through an otherwise dry coastal landscape. On a map the town's compact grid sits in the middle of a patchwork of irrigated fields, drainage ditches and canals drawn in fine, overlapping lines.
The centre follows the regular block pattern found in many Peruvian towns, with a main square and straight streets meeting at right angles. Outside the core, roads turn into rural tracks that follow field edges and irrigation channels. The drawing shifts quickly from strict order to a looser, agricultural geometry.
Farming drives the local economy, with rice, bananas and other crops grown on the valley floor. A Querecotillo map poster shows how closely the town depends on that land and water. The river and canals frame the streets, and the fields reach right up to the last houses on every side.
The core is laid out in regular blocks around a main square. This clear, orderly pattern sits at the centre of the print.
Canals and ditches cross the valley in long, gently curving lines. They are the quiet infrastructure that makes farming possible in this dry region.
The river runs through the valley close to town. Its wide bed and braided channels form the largest natural shape on the map.

Koteā ko Querecotillo
People across the Piura region know Querecotillo well, and many families trace their roots to the Chira valley. A map print is a respectful way to honour that origin, whether it hangs in Lima, abroad or in the valley itself.
