Te mapa
Ramanathapuram lies in the southeast of Tamil Nadu, on the low, dry coastal plain that leads toward Palk Bay and the island of Rameswaram. On a map the town appears as a compact centre with roads fanning out across flat country, and the coastline, with its shallow inlets and lagoons, lies only a short distance to the east.
The town was the seat of the Sethupathi rulers, whose palace still stands in the centre. The Sethupathis were historically associated with protecting the pilgrim route to Rameswaram, and the town remains a gateway for travellers heading toward the Pamban bridge and the island's temples.
A Ramanathapuram map poster reflects that sense of passage. The main roads lead outward toward the coast and the pilgrimage route, while the older centre forms a denser knot of streets around the palace area. Large water tanks and open land surround the town, giving the composition a calm, spacious quality.

A main route leads east toward Pamban and Rameswaram, drawing a strong line across the map that reflects the town's long role on the pilgrim road.
Large irrigation tanks and flat coastal land surround the town, appearing as broad open shapes that frame its compact centre.
