Te mapa
Rosales lies in eastern Pangasinan on the broad, level plain of central Luzon, near the Agno River. From above, the landscape is mostly field boundaries and irrigation lines. The town's streets gather into a small centre, and rural roads run out from there across the rice land.
The barangay of Carmen, within Rosales, is a well-known junction where major north–south and east–west roads meet, and many travellers between Manila and the north pass through it. Rosales is also the birthplace of the novelist F. Sionil José. His five-novel Rosales saga made the town's name familiar to readers far beyond Pangasinan.
A Rosales map poster shows a modest provincial town with a clear centre, long straight highways and the soft curve of the river nearby. It is a quiet image of the Philippine lowlands, with its farms, roads and the places where people stop on the way north.
Major highways meet at Carmen, and those crossing lines give the map a strong structural point beyond the town centre.
One of Luzon's major rivers flows through the area in wide bends. It is the most natural line in an otherwise flat, farmed landscape.
The town centre is a compact group of short streets around the plaza and market, small enough to take in at a glance.
