Te mapa
Roslavl’ lies in the south of Smolensk Oblast, on the Ostyor River, in gently rolling country of fields and woodland. From above, the town looks like a broad network of streets on both sides of the valley, with the older centre on higher ground and quieter residential blocks spreading outward. The river's curves cut through the pattern and break up what would otherwise be a fairly regular layout.
Roslavl’ is one of the oldest towns in the region. Chronicles date its founding to the twelfth century and link it to Prince Rostislav of Smolensk. Over the centuries it became a crossroads, and in the railway age it grew into an important junction. Rail lines still arrive from several directions and give the map strong, confident diagonals.
A Roslavl’ map poster captures that mix of old river town and later transport hub. The older streets near the centre keep a compact rhythm, while the outer districts and rail yards add longer, straighter lines. Together they make a map that is simple to read and still holds plenty of detail.
The river winds through the town in loose curves. It splits the street network into distinct parts and adds a soft, natural line to the otherwise orderly layout.
Several lines meet at Roslavl’, so long straight tracks cross the map in different directions. They are among the most graphic elements of the poster.
The oldest part of town sits in a compact core where streets meet more closely. It forms a clear focal point on the poster.
