Te mapa
Sakaraha is a town in the Atsimo-Andrefana region of south-western Madagascar, on the RN7 highway that links the central highlands with the coastal city of Toliara. Its map follows the road. The main street is the highway itself, and the town stretches out along it, with shorter side streets and paths branching off to houses, yards and fields.
Just east of the town lies Zombitse-Vohibasia National Park, which protects an area of dry deciduous forest known for its birds and lemurs. On a map the protected forest shows as open, unbroken space. The land around Sakaraha looks quite different, cultivated and settled, with a fine web of tracks linking small villages to the highway.
A Sakaraha map poster is a portrait of a road town: one strong line running through the frame, with everything else arranged in relation to it. It is a simple, direct composition. It suits anyone who has travelled the RN7 or who has family ties to this part of the island.
The national highway runs straight through Sakaraha and acts as its main street. It is the boldest line on the map, with the town arranged along both sides.
Zombitse-Vohibasia National Park, just east of the town, protects dry forest. On the map it appears as a broad area almost free of roads.
Beyond the highway, narrow paths lead to fields and outlying settlements. They form a light, branching network that softens the edges of the map.
