Te mapa
San Carlos is the capital of Cojedes State, on the edge of Venezuela's llanos, the wide plains of the interior. From above, the city is built on a regular grid of blocks, with a central square and streets extending outward in straight lines. A river runs near the city, and beyond the last neighbourhoods the land opens into farmland and cattle country.
The city was founded in the late seventeenth century, and its colonial core still shapes the centre. As the state capital, San Carlos serves as the administrative and commercial centre of Cojedes, with roads connecting it to Valencia and to towns across the plains. Agriculture and ranching have long been central to the economy of the surrounding area.
A San Carlos map poster shows the city's orderly layout: the grid of the centre, the main roads leading out and the open plains around it. In black and white, the straight lines and wide spaces make a calm, balanced composition. It suits families from Cojedes, anyone who grew up in the llanos, and those living far from home.

A river passes close to the city, its winding course contrasting with the straight streets of the grid on the map.
Beyond the last neighbourhoods, the flat plains open out into farmland and ranches, creating wide empty areas around the city.
