Te mapa
Sekimachi, better known today as Seki, lies in Gifu Prefecture in central Japan. The Nagara River flows through the landscape on its way south across the Nobi Plain. The city's streets are compact near the historic centre and spread out along roads toward the neighbouring towns. At the edges, the rising ground of the hills pushes the built-up area into narrower valleys.
Seki has been known for blades for centuries. Swordsmiths of the Seki tradition were famous in the Muromachi period, and the city remains one of Japan's main centres for knives, scissors and cutlery. Summer cormorant fishing on the Nagara River is another long-standing custom, carried on here as in nearby Gifu.
A Sekimachi map poster brings together a river, a dense old core and the hills in a single, well-balanced frame. The river gives the composition a fluid line, and the city streets are drawn with a precision that fits a place associated with fine craft. It is a thoughtful print for a kitchen, a workshop or a collector's shelf.
The river runs through the Seki area in broad curves, giving the map a strong natural line and linking the city with its cormorant fishing tradition.
The older centre, long associated with swordsmiths and knife makers, shows a denser street pattern than the surrounding districts.
Built-up areas follow the valleys where the hills rise, leaving irregular outlines at the fringes of the map.

Koteā ko Sekimachi
For cooks, knife enthusiasts and anyone with ties to Gifu, Seki carries real significance. A map of the city is a subtle nod to a craft that shaped it, and one that fits a kitchen wall particularly well.
You can change the title, add a subtitle such as a year or a workshop name, and keep the coordinates. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Noir gives a sharp, steel-like feel.
