Te mapa
Shimokizukuri lies on the Tsugaru Plain in western Aomori Prefecture, in the Kizukuri area that is now part of Tsugaru City. The land here is almost completely flat. From above it looks like a large grid of rice paddies, cut into rectangles by irrigation channels and farm roads, with the settlement drawn in a denser pattern along the main routes.
The Gonō Line passes through this area, and Kizukuri Station is widely known for its facade in the form of a huge clay figure. The design is based on the Jōmon-period dogū found at the nearby Kamegaoka site. On a map the railway is a fine, steady line, and the town's streets branch off it toward the fields.
A Shimokizukuri map poster reads almost like a technical drawing. Straight field boundaries, narrow canals and the occasional curved road fill the frame. The houses form a thicker band along the older routes. Paper and Blueprint suit this kind of geometry especially well, but the plain black and white version keeps the paddy grid just as clear.
Around the town, rice fields divided by irrigation ditches and farm tracks create a repeating rectangular pattern that fills much of the map.
The single railway line crosses the plain in a long, even stroke, and the town's streets are arranged along it and around the station.
The Kamegaoka archaeological site, known for its Jōmon clay figures, lies in the same Kizukuri area and explains the station's unusual form.

Koteā ko Shimokizukuri
The map is a good fit for people with roots in the Tsugaru region, and for anyone who likes very orderly landscapes. The paddy grid gives a room a calm, even texture, and more of the fine detail shows at larger sizes.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, for example with a family name or the year you visited. Then pick Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The $9 digital files include six sizes as 300 DPI PNG and PDF, and printed versions ship from partners in over 30 countries.
