Te mapa
The town of Niseko sits in a broad basin in southwestern Hokkaido, and its map is more rural than most ski destinations. The Shiribetsu River loops across the valley floor, roads follow the edges of fields in long straight lines, and the town centre forms a modest grid around the railway station. To the north rise the slopes of Niseko Annupuri, where the ski areas are.
Across the valley stands Mount Yōtei, a stratovolcano often called Ezo Fuji for its resemblance to Mount Fuji. Cold air from Siberia picks up moisture over the Sea of Japan and drops it here as light, dry snow, which has made the Niseko area known internationally for powder. Several ski areas on Annupuri, including Grand Hirafu, Hanazono, Niseko Village and Annupuri, share a common lift pass.
A Niseko map poster shows the quieter side of the place: the town itself, with its fields, river bends and rail line, rather than just the resort villages on the mountain. It is a calm, open composition, with plenty of white space where farmland and forest spread out between the roads.
The river meanders across the basin close to the town centre, its loops the most organic line on a map otherwise shaped by roads and field boundaries.
The 1,898-metre volcano rises east of the town, and its symmetrical cone is the landmark visible from almost every road in the area.
Around Niseko Station a small, regular pattern of streets marks the town centre, a compact rectangle set against the looser rural roads running out into the valley.

Koteā ko Niseko
Niseko is a long journey for most visitors, and one they tend to remember in detail: deep snow, onsen evenings, the outline of Yōtei at sunrise. A map poster is an understated way to keep that trip on the wall, far from Hokkaido.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can all be changed, so you might mark the year of your trip or the lodge you stayed in. Choose among five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, for the digital files or a printed poster.
