Te mapa
Shrīrangapattana stands on an island in the Kaveri River, a few kilometres upstream of Mysuru in Karnataka. The river divides around it, and from above the island appears as a long, narrow shape with water on both sides. Its western end holds the old fortified town, and the lines of the fort walls and moats are still legible in the map's pattern.
The town takes its name from the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, one of the major Vaishnava shrines of South India. In the late eighteenth century it was the capital of Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan, and Tipu died here during the siege of 1799. His summer palace, the Daria Daulat Bagh, and the Gumbaz mausoleum lie on the island outside the fort.
Today the main highway and the railway between Bengaluru and Mysuru cross the island, adding straight modern lines to an older layout. A Shrīrangapattana map poster brings all of this into one frame: river channels, fortifications, temple streets and the green spaces around the monuments, set out with the clarity of a plan.
The river splits into two channels around the island, framing the whole town in water and giving the poster an unmistakable elongated silhouette.
At the western end, the angular outline of the fortifications and their surrounding ditches marks the historic core where the temple and old streets are concentrated.
East of the fort, the formal grounds of the Daria Daulat Bagh and the Gumbaz appear as open, geometric spaces set among the island's roads and fields.

Shrīrangapattana draws people interested in South Indian history, pilgrims visiting the temple and families from the Mysuru region. A clean map of the island is a fitting way to remember a place where the landscape and its history are so closely bound.
