Te mapa
Sijunjung is the seat of Sijunjung Regency, in the hilly interior of West Sumatra. The town grew where rivers converge, and its map shows it: streets run along the valley and bend with the water, and the built area stretches out in a narrow, linear form instead of spreading evenly. Hills close in on either side, keeping the town in its channel.
The regency lies in the Minangkabau heartland and is known for a traditional village where rows of rumah gadang, long houses with sweeping upturned roofs, still stand together. Around the town, rice fields, plantations and forest fill the valleys, and roads thread between them along the easiest line through the terrain.
A Sijunjung map poster brings river and road into the same frame. In black and white, the curves of the water, the ribbon of streets alongside it and the looser tracks climbing into the hills make a composition rooted in its geography. It is a map about how a town fits into a valley.
The town takes shape where rivers meet, and the water is the strongest line on the map. Its curves set the direction of the streets that grew up alongside it.
Hemmed in by hills, the built area stretches along the valley floor. The result is a long, narrow street pattern that works particularly well in a portrait-format poster.
Beyond the centre, roads wind through rice fields, plantations and forested slopes, drawn as thin, looping lines that give the edges of the print a quiet texture.
