Te mapa
Silvassa is the capital of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, a small territory wedged between Gujarat and Maharashtra, about an hour inland from Daman and the Arabian Sea. It was under Portuguese rule until 1954, and traces remain in the old town, including the church of Our Lady of Piety. The Damanganga river passes on the western side.
Since the late 20th century, tax incentives drew large numbers of factories to the territory. Industrial estates now surround the town. On the map, they show as big rectangular plots along the main roads, which contrast with the smaller, older streets of the centre. Forest and tribal villages cover much of the surrounding land.
A Silvassa map poster captures this mix: a winding river, a compact historic core, large blocks of industry along the highways, and green hills in the background. Printed in a minimal style, the layers of the town's past and present fit together into one calm composition.
The river flows past the western side of town, its curves giving the map a natural edge and a clear sense of orientation.
The small historic core, with the church of Our Lady of Piety, forms a denser cluster of streets from the Portuguese period.
Large factory plots line the main roads out of town, appearing on the map as broad regular rectangles around the older centre.

Koteā ko Silvassa
Many people came to Silvassa for work and stayed, while others have family roots in the territory going back generations. A map of the town brings both stories together, and it suits an office or a home equally well.
