Te mapa
Siuri, often written Suri, is the headquarters of Birbhum district in West Bengal. It lies on gently undulating ground typical of the district, where the red laterite soils of the west meet the rice plains of Bengal. On a map the town appears as a compact cluster of streets and neighbourhoods, with main roads leading out toward surrounding towns and villages.
The Mayurakshi River flows to the north, and the Tilpara barrage near the town is part of the irrigation system that supports farming across much of Birbhum. The wider district is known for Santiniketan, associated with Rabindranath Tagore, and for the hot springs at Bakreshwar, both within reach of the town.
A Siuri map poster shows a district town in its setting: the network of central streets, the roads radiating outward, the river line and its barrage, and the patchwork of ponds and fields around it. In black and white, the scattered water bodies common across rural Bengal add a delicate, dotted texture to the design.
The river passes to the north of the town, a broad sandy channel that forms the clearest natural line on the map.
A barrage across the Mayurakshi near Siuri diverts water into irrigation canals, visible as a crossing on the river with thin lines leading away from it.
Around the town, countless small ponds and paddy fields create a fine, speckled pattern typical of the Bengal countryside.
