Te mapa
Soanindrariny is a rural commune in the Vakinankaratra region of Madagascar's central highlands, the high country around Antsirabe. It is not a compact town with a central grid. On a map it appears as a spread of hamlets, footpaths and unpaved roads laid over hilly terrain, where the line of each route is decided by the slope of the land.
The highlands of Vakinankaratra are known for intensive farming: rice in the valley bottoms and other crops on the surrounding hillsides. From above, this produces a fine, irregular texture, with paths curving along contours and small clusters of houses sitting on higher, drier ground above the fields. Streams thread through the lower land and tie the pattern together.
Because the commune is spread out, a Soanindrariny map poster works best as a portrait of a landscape rather than of a street plan. The drawing captures how settlement and farmland interlock across the hills, which is the defining feature of this part of Madagascar and something that is hard to see from ground level.
Houses gather in small groups on higher ground, leaving the lower land for cultivation. On the map these clusters appear as scattered dense points linked by thin tracks.
Roads and footpaths rarely run straight here. They bend with the hills, producing looping lines that give the print an organic, almost hand-drawn character.
Small watercourses run through the valley floors between the hills, marking the lowest ground and the fields that depend on it for water.

Koteā ko Soanindrariny
A print of Soanindrariny suits someone with family roots in Vakinankaratra, or a traveller who spent time in the highlands around Antsirabe. Its loose, rural pattern makes a calm, abstract image that still points to one specific place.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with a name, a date or a short phrase. The map comes in five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, as HD digital files or as a printed poster on matte paper.
