Te mapa
Socopó is the main town of the Antonio José de Sucre municipality in Barinas State, in western Venezuela. It lies where the last slopes of the Andes give way to the flat grasslands of the llanos. The land around it is crossed by rivers flowing down from the mountains toward the plains.
The town grew as a farming and trading centre serving the cattle ranches and farms of the area. Its map shows a mostly regular grid of streets, typical of Venezuelan towns. A main road runs through it, connecting the plains of Barinas with the Andean state of Táchira.
A Socopó map poster brings together the order of the town grid and the looser shapes of the countryside. Rivers wind across the frame, fields and pastures spread out in large blocks, and the first foothills rise toward the edges of the map. It is a quiet, grounded composition that reflects life on the edge of the llanos.
On one side the land rises into the lower slopes of the Andes, where winding roads and streams give the map a more varied, textured edge.
The centre follows a regular pattern of square blocks, the classic layout of Venezuelan towns, crossed by the main road that carries traffic through the region.
Rivers descend from the mountains and cross the plains in long meanders with wooded banks, framing the town with curving lines of water.
