Guanare Map Poster & Print

Guanare is the capital of Portuguesa state in western Venezuela. It lies where the Andean foothills give way to the vast plains of the llanos. On a map the city is organised around a grid of blocks typical of Spanish colonial foundations, with its main square and cathedral at the centre.

The Guanare River runs beside the city, and the land around is flat farmland that stretches far to the south and east. To the northwest the first ridges of the Andes rise, adding a line of relief to one side of the poster that contrasts with the open plains.

A Guanare map poster centres on one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Venezuela. The city is associated with Our Lady of Coromoto, the country's patron saint, and her national shrine lies just outside it. Many visitors know the city for that reason alone.

01

Colonial grid

The centre follows the classic grid around a main square. It is an orderly layout that gives the poster a strong, balanced core.

02

Guanare River

The river runs alongside the city and marks a natural edge. It adds a winding line to the otherwise regular street pattern.

03

Plains and foothills

Flat llanos farmland stretches out on one side and Andean ridges rise on the other. The meeting of the two frames the city.
