Te mapa
Barinas sits where the last folds of the Venezuelan Andes flatten out into the llanos, the wide grassland plains that cover much of the country's interior. From above, the city looks like a loose grid stretched along the Santo Domingo River, with blocks that turn looser and greener toward the edges, where farmland starts.
The centre follows the old Spanish pattern of square blocks around a main plaza. Newer districts spread outward along the highways to the Andes and to the plains towns further east. Because the land is so flat, the river corridor and the major avenues give the map most of its structure, drawn in clean lines against the empty ground around them.
Founded in the sixteenth century, Barinas grew into the capital of its state and a centre for the cattle ranching and farming of the plains. A Barinas map poster keeps that mix of order and openness: a dense core with its rectangular streets, then a long thinning-out into the llanos, all held together by the curve of the river.
The river flows down from the Andes and runs along the edge of the city, giving the map a long curved line that the street grid bends to meet.
The historic centre keeps a regular pattern of square blocks around its central plaza, the most tightly drawn part of the whole composition.
Past the last neighbourhoods the streets thin out into roads and field boundaries, showing the city's position at the start of Venezuela's great plains.

Koteā ko Barinas
For people from Barinas, or anyone with family in the llanos, this map is a quiet way to keep home on the wall. The river and the grid are easy to recognise, and the design stays spare enough to suit most rooms.
You can add your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, whether that's a family name, a year or a neighbourhood, and pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
