Te mapa
Starobilsk lies in the north of Luhansk Oblast, on the Aidar River, a tributary of the Siverskyi Donets. On a map, the town has the orderly layout of many settlements on the steppe. Long straight streets cross at right angles, and the blocks between them are mostly filled with low houses and gardens. The winding river and its green floodplain run along one side of the grid.
That contrast shapes the whole map. On one side, the river bends freely through meadows and woodland. On the other, the grid is planned and even, with a few wider avenues marking the main routes through town. Beyond the edges, open farmland stretches in every direction, crossed by long roads toward neighbouring towns.
A Starobilsk map poster shows a clear, legible street plan beside a slow river. It is especially meaningful for people with family ties to the town, many of whom now live far from it. The map records its streets and blocks quietly and exactly, without comment.
The Aidar winds past the town through a wide green floodplain. Its loose, looping line contrasts with the straight streets beside it.
Long, straight streets cross at right angles across most of the town. This creates the regular pattern of blocks that dominates the poster.
Fields reach close to the town on all sides. At poster scale they form a calm, open frame around the dense grid of streets.
