Te mapa
Suay is a community in the Western Visayas, on the island of Negros in the Philippines. It lies in the coastal lowland of Negros Occidental, a province long associated with sugar cane. The plain slopes gently from the island's volcanic interior toward the Panay Gulf. On a map, the land is divided into large cultivated blocks, with small settlements placed along the roads that cross them.
The built area is small. Houses and a barangay centre line the main road, and side lanes branch off into the fields. Creeks and irrigation lines cut across the flat ground on their way to the sea. Farm roads run between the cane fields in long, straight stretches, so the surroundings take on a broad, regular pattern with the settlement at its centre.
A Suay map poster keeps the drawing sparse and exact. There are a few roads, a scatter of homes and wide field divisions. Because there is little to crowd the frame, each line carries weight. The poster suits anyone whose family ties run back to this part of Negros and its sugar-growing landscape.

Farm roads divide the surrounding lowland into large rectangular plots. They give the map a spare, graphic grid typical of sugar country.
Small watercourses wind across the plain toward the gulf. Their curves soften the straight lines of the roads and field edges.

Koteā ko Suay
Many Negrenses have moved to Manila, Cebu or abroad. A map of the place they are from is a simple way to keep it close. The emptiness of the plain makes it an unusually calm image.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, for example with a family name or a reunion date. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The $9 digital files cover six print sizes, and printed posters with an optional frame are also available.
