Te mapa
Taveuni is Fiji's third-largest island, lying east of Vanua Levu across the Somosomo Strait. It is long and narrow, built by volcanic activity, with a high ridge of mountains running along its length and rainforest covering much of the interior. From above, the island has a clear, tapering form, with a coastal road tracing its shoreline and villages and plantations set along it.
The island is often called the Garden Island of Fiji for its dense greenery. On its eastern side, the Bouma National Heritage Park protects rainforest, rivers and waterfalls, including the well-known Tavoro Falls. High in the mountains, Lake Tagimoucia is home to the rare tagimoucia flower, which grows almost nowhere else.
Taveuni is also crossed by the 180th meridian, and a marker near the coast shows where the line passes through the island. A Taveuni map poster brings together the mountainous spine, the ring of coastal road and the narrow strait to Vanua Levu, a shape both simple and full of detail.
The line of 180 degrees longitude passes through the island, and a marker near the coast lets visitors stand on either side of it.
A high ridge of mountains runs along the island's length, covered in rainforest and giving it a clear central axis on the map.
Protected rainforest on the eastern side includes rivers and waterfalls such as Tavoro Falls, reached by trails from the coast road.

Koteā ko Taveuni
Taveuni suits divers, honeymooners, Fijian families and anyone who has stood on the 180th meridian. Its long, green shape makes a calm and considered piece for a hallway or bedroom wall.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with the date line itself, and choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Paper keeps the look warm and understated.
