Te mapa
Tawau lies on the southeastern coast of Sabah, on the island of Borneo, looking out over waters that lead to the Celebes Sea and close to the border with Indonesian Kalimantan. From above, the town is a strip of streets along the shoreline, with the compact commercial centre by the water and newer districts spreading inland.
The surrounding land is agricultural, and Tawau has long been associated with cocoa and oil palm plantations. Inland to the northwest lies Tawau Hills Park, a forested area of volcanic hills. The town's harbour also serves ferry connections to nearby Indonesian ports.
A Tawau map poster captures a frontier-coast layout: the coastline running across the frame, a tight grid by the port, and roads branching away through the countryside. In black and white, the water's edge becomes the defining line of the whole composition.
The older commercial core sits right by the water, its short, closely spaced streets forming the densest part of the map against the broad expanse of the sea.
The irregular shoreline, with small inlets and stretches of mangrove, gives the poster a strong natural border and a clear sense of Tawau as a port.
From the centre, roads stretch inland through suburbs and farmland toward the hills, long lines that thin out as they leave the town.

Koteā ko Tawau
Tawau is a place many Sabahans call home and many others remember as their first stop in Borneo. A coastal map is a subtle way to keep that connection on the wall.
