Te mapa
Umargām sits at the southern tip of Gujarat, on the Arabian Sea coast close to the Maharashtra border. On the map, the shoreline forms the western edge, broken by creeks and tidal inlets. The older town lies near the coast, with streets clustered close to the water.
Inland, the pattern changes. A large industrial estate, laid out in wide, regular plots, takes up much of the land east of the old town. The railway runs north to south through the area toward Mumbai and Surat. Fields, orchards and small villages fill the gaps between these features.
Umargām is also known for its film studios, where well-known Indian television series have been shot. An Umargām map poster shows the town's two faces: a coastline of creeks and beaches, and a planned industrial grid beside it.
The western edge of the map is open sea, and a shoreline of beaches and creek mouths defines the town's outline.
A large, carefully planned industrial area with broad streets and regular plots sits inland. Its rectangular geometry contrasts with the natural coastline.
The railway runs north to south through the area. It forms a strong straight line linking Umargām with the rest of the Mumbai–Gujarat corridor.
